What’s free, and what isn’t

The free issue is a complete briefing, not a teaser. The tape, the strongest name in play with the filings behind it, and yesterday’s log arrive every trading day whether you pay or not. Paying adds the rest of the list — less than a dollar a day, and about 57¢ per issue, for filings read, cross-checked and written up before the open every morning the market is open.

Read this before you pay.

BellPrep is new. The log on the scorecard is short or empty, which means there isn’t yet much of a track record to judge us on. That is a real reason to be careful, and the 30-day trial is the answer to it: by the time you are charged, roughly twenty issues will have published and you will have watched the log fill up in your own inbox. Decide then, on evidence, rather than now on a promise.

And if the free issue turns out to be all you need, that is a completely fine outcome. It keeps arriving either way.

The questions worth asking

Does the free issue get worse now there’s a paid tier?

No, and it never will. Nothing that is free today moves behind the paywall later. The free issue is how anyone finds out whether the reasoning is worth paying for, so degrading it to sell the paid tier would break the only thing that makes the paid tier plausible.

Will you tell me what to buy?

No — at any price. Every name is a worked example of a pattern, not an instruction, and we don’t know your account or your situation. The moment we gave one person advice for their circumstances we would stop being a publisher and become something we are not registered to be. That constraint applies identically to paid and free.

Why is there no win rate on this page?

Because you couldn’t verify it. Any percentage here would be a number we made up about ourselves. What is on the scorecard instead is every call, worked and failed, with the date it was made and the date it resolved, never edited afterwards.

What happens at the end of the trial?

You are charged, and told beforehand. Cancel any time before then and you are not. Cancelling later takes one click from the bottom of any issue — there is no email to send and nobody will try to talk you out of it.

Where does the payment actually happen?

On beehiiv, our newsletter platform, processed by Stripe. Card details never touch this website — it is a static site with no server and no database, which you can verify in your browser’s network tab.

Is it worth it on a small account?

Judge it against what it replaces rather than against your account. It is less than a dollar a day — about 57¢ an issue — for the filings behind every name that moved, read and cross-checked before the open. Doing that yourself is maybe forty minutes a morning on EDGAR, and the point of the free issue is that you can decide whether ours is any good before paying for it.

The counter-argument is real and we would rather say it: on a $2,000 account $12 a month is 0.6% of your capital, and there are months where that matters more than the research does.

Can I expense it, or pay annually?

Annual is $99 — 31% less than twelve monthly payments, and about 39¢ an issue. A receipt is emailed on every charge.
